Challis School District is following the State Board of Education’s soft closure through May 21, 2020. After listening to Governor Little’s plan outlining the stages of reopening the economy on Thursday, April 23, 2020 and clarifying discussions with District Health; it is evident that our schools could not meet criteria to fully return this calendar year.
First, I want to thank all of you for your continued support of our teachers and students. Without this, online schooling would have been very difficult for some of our students. I appreciate the extra time and effort in ensuring your students continue the academic year.
I want to remind parents and students that attendance is taken daily with flexibility to accommodate families. Be sure your child continues to check in with their teacher. Also, students will receive 4th quarter grades. Challis School District staff has diligently worked to continue instruction encompassing the essential standards. They have been very flexible when students or parents have reached out to support individual circumstances. Please contact your child’s teacher if you have any concerns.
Instruction will continue through May 21, 2020. Teachers will have grades submitted for report cards by Tuesday, May 26. Report cards will be mailed to parents Wednesday, May 27.
Graduation will be held on Sunday, May 17, 2020. The senior class advisers will be working with seniors to plan this unique graduation ceremony.
The feedback from staff, parents and community is appreciated and taken into consideration.
